Dr. Jeannine Nilges

Short Biography

Dr. Nilges is a Nicaraguan board-certified Plastic Surgeon with extensive experience in reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, evidenced by a successful private practice she established in Nicaragua. Driven by her passion for giving back, she founded a women’s clinic focused on breast cancer, providing pro bono reconstructive services for women diagnosed with breast cancer and awaiting bilateral mastectomy. Dr. Nilges’ pursuit of professional growth led her to the United States, where she gained valuable experience through observerships in Texas and California before settling in Kansas. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, she embraced a new challenge in the research department, where she utilized her expertise to facilitate participant involvement in various clinical trials, honing her skills as a research physician. Her passion for global health remains unwavering. She actively collaborates with the Office of International Programs at the University of Kansas Medical Center to raise awareness and advocate for improvements in global health. Dr. Nilges also engages in roundtable discussions with medical and nursing students, offering insights into global health challenges and inspiring students to contribute meaningfully to this critical field.
