The fractional laser is ideal for patients looking to rejuvenate their skin by skin resurfacing and it is comparable to Fraxel re:store. It is often used to address acne scars and shrink large pores.

This treatment will leave skin feeling and looking more balanced overall. Furthermore, the fractional laser function can help treat patients that want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, enhance skin texture and make it glow.

For most people, acne largely becomes a distant memory by the time that they have their mid-20’s. Those who are left with acne scars can be divided into three categories:

  • Ice pick scars: deep pits
  • Rolling scars: sharp angles and edges
  • Boxcar scars: wavy lines

There is good news and bad news. The bad news is that, as we age, acne scars can deepen and look more pronounced. This is because our skin becomes less efficient at producing collagen, the protein responsible for maintaining our skin’s elasticity. The good news, however, is that this condition can be effectively treated. Some of the acne scar treatments you may have heard about:

  • Tissue fillers are injected directly into the skin to fill in scars. This is a temporary solution that does not address raised scars.
  • Dermabrasion: the top layers of skin are essentially scraped off.
  • Chemical peels: acidity is used to burn off the top layers of skin.
  • Excision: raised scars are surgically removed/scraped, leaving the area with skin that needs to be treated to even the skin tone.
  • Lasers: gold standard treatment – see below.
